Victorian Christening Gown  c.1880

A lovely combination of simplicity and fancy. Long and elegant. Hand crafted with the tiniest of tiny stitches. The waist band is decorated with a double band of French knots all around. Made from a very nice quality batiste cotton. Near the bottom of the bodice, on the side, there is an expert, almost invisible antique darn, as well as a vertical one on the back running alongside the opening, lost in fabric folds.  From Scotland.
