Christening
Gown with Long Ties
c.1900
A
beautiful and sturdy gown. When loose, the long ties reach all the way to
the hem. They can be tied at the side (pictured), back, or front,
adaptable for different sizes and different styles. Teardrop-shape
embellishments in the lace are found throughout, on the rounded yoke, the
sleeve cuffs, and twice around the hem, with narrow rows of pintucks
between each band of insertion. Closes in back with three sweet hidden
mother of pearl buttons. Embellishments at the hem measure 8 full
inches. The cotton ties are long and luxuriously wide, at 35 x 6-1/2
inches each. Each concludes with a lovely band of lace. Made with
care and made to hold up. French seams, machine stitches. Superb
condition. #041503. #185.00.
